This delightful fusion of Korean BBQ and island flavors promises to make your Valentine's date night an unforgettable culinary journey filled with love, laughter, and the magic of shared meals.

Growing up in Hawai'i sharing a delicious "plate lunch" of kalbi, two scoops mac, and a scoop of kimchi was good for lunch, dinner, brunch, date night... basically it didn't matter. Any time was a good time for this meal.

When I want to treat my husband, I invest in the time and effort it requires to make something like this, a meal that takes a full 24 hours to prepare properly. I hope you give it a try and love it!


  • Korean style short ribs: You can always find these at any Asian grocery store that has a meat counter. Check for a 99 Ranch or H-Mart in your area. If you have a trustworthy butcher you can ask for thin sliced Korean style short ribs, they should know what that means!

  • You don't have to grill these over fire, they come out amazing grilled in a cast iron pan.

  • Mac Salad: Don't skip on the apple cider vinegar! It doesn't taste too vinegar-y at the end, but you wont get the bite and flavor you want from a well made mac salad without allowing the pasta to absorb a bit of vinegar.

  • You CAN add celery to the mac salad if you like celery, but I do not and most Hawaiian style macaroni salads do not contain that ingredient.
